    The night

    A fortnight before, Nstruct described the evening in one line: one night, one room, and a floor that stayed open. Shop & Sip was the Ossington store, held late, hosted by Nstruct with Mejuri, Domaine, Channable and ChatFeatured.

    The room looked like that. Guests filled the store under the slatted wood ceiling, along the jewellery cases, and around a bar set inside the shop. A welcome sign on an easel read Shop & Sip, Nstruct and Mejuri, Wednesday 14 October, Mejuri on Ossington. Champagne sat on ice beside the night’s cards. Cans were stacked at the bar. Mejuri pieces were out on display, including a necklace beside the night’s sign.

    The published running order stayed short. Doors were at 6:00, with check-in and a first pour as the room filled. At 6:15 Mejuri and Domaine gave the only remarks, ten minutes rather than forty. At 6:30 the floor opened and the activations ran. Last call was 8:45: a final pour, a final checkout, and nobody was rushed out at nine. After the remarks, the hours belonged to the room.

    The running order

    Four marks on the program. Shopping opened after the remarks, so the room was not at the till while Mejuri and Domaine were speaking.

      Doors and the first pour

      Guests checked in against the list, and the first drinks were poured as the room filled.

    2. 6:15pm

      Short remarks

      Mejuri and Domaine gave short remarks. Ten minutes, not forty.

    3. 6:30pm

      The floor opened

      The floor opened and the activations ran.

    4. 8:45pm

      Last call

      The final pour and the final checkout. Nobody was rushed out at nine.
